ROUTE
four

From Botley Hill Farmhouse to the White Bear and back. Approx 7 miles

Start at Botley Hill Farmhouse car park. Turn left on to the cycle lane until it finishes, then cross over the road on to the cycle lane heading towards Beech Farm Road, where you will cross over and continue for another 5 minutes until you reach Ledgers Road.

Turn right onto Ledgers Road and continue for about 1 minute, you will see a path and a metal gate on your left. Turn left and head down the path for about 10 minutes.

Keep a look out for horses which you must give way to at any time.

Follow the path to the end where you will find a small gate which leads on to a small country lane. Turn right onto Chelsham Common Road which leads on to Church Lane and continue for 5 minutes until you see a large metal gate on your left.

Go through the gate into Holt Wood and continue for 10 minutes or so until you reach a small lane called Scotshall Lane and Farleigh Court Road. Turn right then immediately turn left and go through a small metal gate - you should see a small blue cycle sign.

Continue for about 5 minutes through the woods then you will take a sharp right with a steep hill going down followed by a steep hill going up. At the end of the path you will see a metal gate. Go through the gate and at the end of the path you will approach a country lane, called Fairchildes Road.

Turn left on to the lane after about 200 yards you will see the White Bear on the left.

Heading back

Turn right on to Fairchildes Road and head back to the small gate down the steep hill and up the other side towards the way you came. When you reach the other metal gate and Scotshall Lane, this time turn left and head along the road for 5 minutes where you will come to a junction.

Turn right into Church Lane and continue for 10 minutes until you reach a road on your left called Ledgers Road. Head up Ledgers Road for another 10 minutes until you reach a small lane called Wash Pond Lane where you should turn left.

Continue for 5 minutes down then up a steep hill until you meet a junction at the top called Beech Farm Road where you will turn right.

Continue for 15 minutes on a long straight road with sharp bend to the right at the end until you meet Croydon Road, where you should turn left back on to the cycle path towards Botley Hill Farmhouse for another 15 minutes.
