When the Financial Times recently decided to run a piece on ‘The best bike routes in London’ featuring five recommended cycle rides aimed at the City crowd, there was only one ride that took readers out to explore the Surrey Hills countryside - and one country inn to stop for refreshments at.

With a warning to leave the ‘Boris bikes’ at home, readers were recommended to tackle the challenge of the highest point in the North Downs, Botley Hill, before enjoying “a pint of home-brewed ale at Botley Hill Farmhouse, a 16th-century inn sitting at the top of the ridge.”

A pint of Titsey Brewing Co, a delicious sandwich in our garden and that famous restorative view are the perfect way to break up any road cycling adventure, whether you’re the next Chris Froome or Laura Kenny, or just looking to enjoy some fresh country air.

If you love escaping to the countryside on your bike, we have a selection of cycling routes for various riding abilities on our website. Some of the hills in our area are among the most challenging road climbs in Surrey, but there are also more leisurely routes.

We hope you enjoy exploring our beautiful corner of the Surrey Hills.
